New Citizen Casts First Vote

Posted on November 8th, 2010

Lucretia Regina-Potter, Assembly candidate and Republican District Leader of the 49th Assembly District, was recently visited in her campaign headquarters by a new registered voter. Violeta Gegprifti, an immigrant from Albania and a resident of the 49th AD, was very proud to mention that she had voted for the first time as a citizen of the United States and stressed the fact that she wrote Lucretia’s name in for the New York State Assembly on the ballot. This is a significant event, not only for the way the Assembly vote had been cast, but for the fact that this new American feels so strongly about one of the greatest rights of our country: the freedom to cast your vote for the candidate of your choice.
