Operation Christmas Smiles

Reaching Out Community Services “Operation Christmas Smiles” was a great success. It is designed to put a smile on every child’s face that is less fortunate due to low income status. Each child met Santa and received toys along with enjoying other activities such as, Face Painting, Puppet Show, Magic Show, Children’s Choir, and Refreshments.

The event this year was quite and achievement and had lightened up the holiday mood in an economic downturn. The holidays are a time of uncertainty and hopelessness for many parents.

Kudos to Tom Neve, Director and the great staff of volunteers that brought smiles and joy to the children in our community.

Celebrating Italian-Americans At The Santa Rosalia Festival

Lucretia and Silvana Romania, Chairwoman of the Festival

At the Santa Rosalia Festival, recently held on 18^th Avenue in the heart of Bensonhurst Brooklyn, Lucretia Regina-Potter,candidate for the NYS Assembly 49AD, was invited to address the large crowd gathered to enjoy beautiful Italian music and song. Lucretia spoke of the great achievements and accomplishments of the Italian-American community, especially in the 49^th Assembly District. Lucretia is of Italian-American descent and expressed how important it is to acknowledge and respect one’s heritage and upbringing. She spoke of how important traditional family values were instilled upon her at an early age and pledged to support the Italian-American community and to help maintain its time-honored traditions.

Petition Breakfast

The Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization recently hosted a breakfast for members of the club that collected a large number of petition signatures. The organization set an all-time record, collecting the highest number of Republican signatures ever in the 49^th Assembly District. Certificates of Appreciation were distributed by the leadership of the LaGuardia Republican Organization. Lucretia Regina-Potter, Republican District Leader of the 49^th AD, and the Republican candidate for the NY State Assembly, and Michael Grimm, the Republican candidate for US Congress were present to congratulate and thank those members that achieved this great accomplishment. The large crowd attending the function had a good time, and everyone showed much enthusiasm and support for their candidates.

Woman of the Year Award Ceremony-Cantamare 2010

Lucretia Regina-Potter, Republican District Leader and Assembly Candidate of the 49th Assembly District, was recently honored as “Woman of the Year” by the Italian organization, Festival of Song-Cantamare 2010, sponsored by ICN Italian radio, at the luxurious Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The successful event, skillfully organized and coordinated by popular community activist and ICN Italian radio announcer Silvana Romania, was attended by over 600 people. The evening’s entertainment included a large group of highly talented singers competing in a music festival presented by Joseph Cirnigliaro, also of ICN Italian radio. The honorees also received plaques from the Cantamare 2010 organization as well as Certificates of Appreciation issued by the National Federation of Italian-American Societies Inc., presented by its President, Arnaldo A. Ferraro.
